  1. She welcomed the night as a friend and lover. The night was the only one who understood her, the only one who she opened to. The only one who could see her for what she was.

During the day, Jessica was simple and plain. The boring office worker who did the same task day in and day out. Her co-workers never really talked to her and she never went out to drink with them. Some had invited her before, but she would always refuse, so they gave up.

Even during the weekend days, Jessica would be simple. Doing mundane tasks like cleaning, making food, running errands. During her free time, she would read.

She never seemed very interesting, and she didn't have any close friends. She had never gone on a date. She seemed so lonely, so boring.

But that was because they couldn't understand.

Most people fear the dark. They are scared of what lurks in the shadows, what they can't see. They feel uneasy at what they don't know. They prefer the light, where everything is clear and can be easily seen. People hate what they don't know.

But Jessica loved the night for that very reason. There was mysterious and intrigue in the shadows. There was a whole other world there. When darkness falls, who knows what's out there? Jessica loved to explore the night to find out.

When the sun fell and the stars dotted the sky, Jessica's pulse would always quicken. She anticipated the excitement, the thrill of the darkness. As the sky grew darker, she would race outside, looking around in the darkness. At first, she wouldn't see anything. But then, slowly, her eyes would adjust and things would become clearer. She'd feel that rush of excitement again.

During the day, she was a nobody. But during the night, she was radiant.
